Fast-growing used car market technology firm Cazana has appointed leading industry expert Rupert Pontin as director of valuations.

Pontin joins the business from Glass’s and brings more than 30 years’ experience in the management, valuation, and strategic remarketing of new and used vehicles.

His appointment is designed to build its influence and relationship with leasing companies, fleets, OEMs and dealerships.

Since launching in 2013, Cazana has quickly become the largest search and indexing engine for used vehicles on sale in the UK, with more than 600,000 vehicles listed for sale on the website and records of all 37 million vehicles on the road.

The business is currently expanding its offering to the US and other key European countries.

Pontin will act as a key liaison with finance and leasing companies along with OEMs.

Tom Wood, CEO and founder of Cazana, said: “We’re extremely pleased with Rupert’s appointment to the team.

“He has a wealth of experience in vehicle valuations and remarketing which, coupled with our unparalleled data coverage and data science, creates a formidable vehicle data offering.

“As we progress with our international expansion, Rupert will be a key figure as we continue to collate and analyse vehicle data from throughout the globe.”

Pontin is a highly-respected figure in the motor trade, having spent time working at several blue-chip companies, in addition to running his own vehicle sales business for a five-year period.

As director of valuations, he will support Cazana’s analysis of used vehicles and enhance its insight into residual value trends.

Pontin said: “I have joined Cazana at a very exciting time as it continues to grow its presence in all areas of the market. Access to accurate, real-time valuation data is increasingly becoming vital for the fleet and finance sectors and Cazana is in an extremely strong position to provide this.”
