Daniel Bailey has been appointed as managing director of UK asset finance specialist Arkle Finance.

His appointment comes as the funder closes in on a record for new business advances, having lent more than £50m during 2017.

Bailey previously worked as a director and as an associate director at Arkle during his 12-year career at the company.

He succeeds Stephen Bassett, who leaves this month after piloting Arkle through a sustained growth phase since 2009.

Arkle launched two decades ago and specialises in renewable energy asset finance, marine finance and finance for educational institutions. It works with more than 150 finance brokers throughout the UK and has lent to more than 5,500 customers.

SMEs and high-growth businesses form the backbone of Arkle’s client base. This year, they accounted for 90% of funding provided.

Bailey has appointed Brian Jerome as an associate director with key responsibility for sales.

Jerome has more than 30 years of experience in the asset finance sector, with roles at companies including D&D Leasing, GE and Barclays.

Bailey said: “Arkle has made significant investment into its systems and people in 2017, giving us a platform for further progress that will ensure we maintain our high service levels as we handle higher volumes of business in 2018.

“Our goal now is to consolidate our success in lending to businesses and consumers, by leveraging our market-leading expertise in marine, aviation and education sector finance.”
