Data8 has expanded the scope of its address verification software, PredictiveAddress, to include a global coverage – and at the same time added new features to the product.

Mark Carrington, chief technologist at Data8 (pictured above) explained that the real-time validation tool now retrieves addresses for 253 countries worldwide and the quality of the international data “is unrivalled”.

Data8 uses data that is sourced from credible data sources such as Royal Mail for the UK and USPS for the US.

Carrington explained that new accessibility features have been introduced to make the software more user friendly including screen reader compatibility to read out selected addresses for visually impaired users and a new keyboard access to a drop-down list of addresses.

He said: “with its fuzzy matching capabilities the software predicts and auto-completes a full address using just a few characters. Upon starting to type, the software verifies the address against multiple sources to ensure accuracy and uses ‘type ahead’ technology to autocomplete it, thereby saving time, optimising user experience and minimises failed deliveries.

“We are excited to expand our international coverage and introduce new features with much more still to come.”

Case Study – Data8 provides vital element of lead capture for online auto retailer

Data8’s client, a leading auto sales platform enables private sellers and businesses to advertise their vehicles and project them to a wider audience.

Sellers on the website are required to fill out a number of details, such as a valid telephone number, in order for them to be contacted by prospective clients or Data8’s client.

The challenge that the company’s client was looking to avoid were scam sellers posting bogus phone numbers, where if a problem occurred then nobody would be able to track or contact them.

The solution

Data8 provided landline and mobile validation solutions that could verify whether business or personal phone numbers are legitimate, in real time.

A Data8 spokesman explained: “This vital element of lead capture process is integrated into all devices e.g. laptops, tablets, mobile sites etc. It is a vital element because it detects bogus information. Therefore, without it, they are running a huge reputational and financial risk.”

The outcome

“Our client experienced a significant improvement in quality of phone numbers captured, with over a 40% increase in valid phone numbers. This also increased customer satisfaction as correct, accurate contact details provide a more trustworthy sale and increase the ease of communication.”

He added: “They are now looking to use email validation and PredictiveAddress. As their search function is largely based around postcode radius, it would be useful for the client to feature quality addresses to ensure sellers and buyers alike are receiving accurate results.”
