We are looking for someone to be responsible for management of VAT compliance and strategy for all of CIT’s European entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of VAT returns for all of CIT’s European entities.
- Managing a team of VAT professionals performing the VAT compliance function for Europe.
- Liaison with fiscal representatives and/or local tax authorities around Europe.
- Managing VAT audits as they arise and achieving positive outcomes.
- Reviewing CIT’s partial exemption position in each jurisdiction.
- Reconciliation of VAT Accounts to General Ledger.
- Preparation of Intrastat Returns (where applicable or liaison with outsourcers).
- Ensuring internal processes are VAT compliant.
- Driving improvements in the efficiency of internal VAT-related processes.
- Ensuring that there is a high level of understanding about VAT issues within the organisation.
- Providing VAT guidance / support on strategic initiatives at European and group level.
- Providing VAT-related advice to the Dublin based finance and operations teams for each European country and to the country based sales teams.
- Working with Business Development, to advise on the VAT implications of new business activities, such as new vendor programs.
- Manage the VAT Tax Accountant.
- Managing relationships with, and the provision of services by, professional service firms.
- Current ad hoc special projects.
Essential Skills:
- At least 4 years VAT specific experience, of which at least 2 years at manager level, either in a similar in-house role or in VAT department in public practice; especially with exposure to European VAT / cross border VAT issues.
- Pan–European VAT compliance experience.

Desirable Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) or Tax Consultant (AITI).
- Financial services experience, preferably leasing.
- Experience of working in an international environment.
- Experience of shared service operations.
- Experience of process improvement.
- High level of competence with Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of VAT issues in the aircraft leasing industry.
- Competence in a European language.
