Tim Zimmerman has been appointed managing director for Peugeot Motor Company.

Born in Reading and raised in North Devon, Zimmerman, 47, is currently general manager of Peugeot's operations in China and returns to the UK after some 14 years away.

His career started with Peugeot in Coventry in September 1986 and since then he has held various roles in the UK and Europe including fleet, leasing and used vehicle director for Peugeot France, marketing and commercial director of Banque PSA Finance and managing director of Peugeot Netherlands before moving to China.

Zimmerman rejoins the UK subsidiary as the Company prepares to launch the world's first diesel electric hybrid- the 3008 HYbrid4. The award winning and versatile 3008 has been hugely successful in the UK and this latest derivative is the first of a number of diesel-electric vehicles from Peugeot that will offer CO2 levels from just 95g/km and fuel economy of up to 74mpg – a significant result for a car with 200bhp and four-wheel drive available.

Zimmerman said: "I am delighted to be returning to Britain and I relish the opportunity my new role gives me. I have long-standing acquaintances in Peugeot UK and its dealer network so I look forward to working with them again. I also return at a time of fantastic product rejuvenation within Peugeot with the stunning RCZ, 3008, 508 and 5008 all attracting new customers to the brand."
