Patrick Beseleare
Earlier this year Patrick Beseleare was promoted from the post of chief executive of ING Lease Belgium to Global Product Head of General Lease.
The move followed an internal re-structuring at ING Lease. This included the move of John Howland-Jackson, head of ING’s leasing and factoring businesses since early 2009, to the new position of senior managing director with responsibility for ING’s overall relationships with key Sovereign Wealth Funds – with the aim of promoting the company’s access to long-term funding and capital from these institutions. It also followed the decision by ING to sell ING Car Lease to the BMW Group and thereby reduce its balance sheet.

George Ashworth, managing director of Aldermore Asset Finance (AAF), is bullish. He has every right to be - since despite the economic downturn AAF’s trade is booming. It gives him time to reflect on the larger picture.

Crit DeMent
Crit DeMent is upbeat despite the tentative state of the equipment finance recovery. “Yes,” he said, “I am optimistic although I am not sure quite how robust the industry will be during 2012. It may be not until 2013 that new business levels return to those of 2007.”
He indicates signs of recovery. “Delegates at the US Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) 50th Annual Convention last October were up 50% compared to 2009,” he stressed, “and membership generally is on the increase. Now is the time for lessors to get back into the fray – and join the ELFA!”
