The much-anticipated agenda for the forthcoming Asset Finance Connect Summer Conference is now live at https://afcconferenceuk.com/afcuk/en/page/agenda.

The event will be returning to etc.venues, 155 Bishopsgate, London on June 13th.

Tickets for the Conference are available until the end of May at a discounted “early bird” rate at the AFC Summer Conference website: https://afcconferenceuk.com/afcuk/en/page/book-now

Key speakers and topics at this year’s AFC Summer Conference include:

Auto Finance Community

David Betteley talks to Toby Marshall, managing director of GWM ORA, UK distributors of Funky Cat (a Chinese battery electric car) about the opportunities and challenges from financing BEVS produced by Chinese OEMs. AFC argues that Chinese OEMs are making BEVs with better tech than their European alternatives and this provides opportunities and challenges for auto finance providers in the UK and Europe.

Lauren Pamma from Green Finance Institute (formerly of Lex AutoLease) joins a panel of experts to consider the readiness of UK infrastructure, following the EU’s decision to continue with their timetable to ban manufacturer of ICE vehicles by 2040 and the UK’s timeline which remains at 2035.

Invitation only workshop: best use cases for AI in auto finance, led by Tony Lynch, entrepreneur in residence at Toyota Financial Services; with representatives from global auto manufacturer captives. Part of primary research conducted by Asset Finance Connect in association with Alfa.

Equipment finance community

John Rees talks to Stuart Clarke, head of climate transition at Lombard about how they are orchestrating partnership arrangements which enable customers to mitigate the cost and risk of transitioning to green assets. A recent AFC/Leaseurope unconference finding suggested barriers to transitioning to green transport include lack of know-how and (emphatically!) missing infrastructure. Partnerships are being used to help lower these barriers.

Case study and panel discussion with Leo Van Den Dungen, managing director of Cargobull Finance and head of construction, transport and industrial at DLL on their partnership agreement to enable sub-contractor last mile delivery vehicle drivers for a global delivery firm to transition to BEVs.

Asset finance community

Keynote speaker Timothy Biddle, managing director of asset finance and invoice finance sales at Lloyds Banking Group will be talking to AFC about the new direction being established by this big UK retail bank as it focuses on growth, tech that can more comprehensively meet customer needs and the opportunities that might come from a more innovative approach to managing risk.

Panel discussion reporting results of our recent unconference session for lenders and brokers; led by Stephen Bassett, AFC’s community leader for asset finance.

Case study: use of AI to collect analogue data, present it digitally. Q&A about implementation with Novuna using a platform developed by Evolution AI.

NextGen community

Ken Hunnisett, head of public sector at Triple Point will talk to next-gen delegates about pricing strategies which drive a purpose-led approach to financial services. These will include pay-per-use outcomes which reward environmentally friendly asset usage triggered payments over asset replacement triggered payments; and impact linked pricing which rewards successful delivery of social benefits through lower prices and could even penalise where funding fails to deliver promised social outcomes.

NextGen workshop – interactive workshop for industry leaders and next generation participants from UK’s leading auto and asset finance companies – run by Asset Finance Connect and the Leasing Foundation.

Technology talk

UK’s leading AI specialists will pitch best use cases for AI in the auto finance journey: Delegates and our tech specialists will identify the winning use case as part of the FinTech Innovators Award session sponsored by Lendscape.

The Asset Finance Connect Tech Leader Presentation 2023: Bi-annual invitation by Asset Finance Connect to an industry tech leader to provide their overview of the applications of a tech solution for the industry. Eva Kellershof, CVP Europe and US, NETSOL Technologies will discuss (20 minutes presentation; 10 minutes Q&A) best use cases for ChatGPT/GPT-4 for the auto and equipment finance industry.

Regulation

Update by Stephen Haddrill on the Finance & Leasing Association’s research into future of credit – a major investigation designed to understand what consumers want from credit and how the industry can better meet their needs. The output of this research will be used to create an Agenda for Change. This is one of the most significant contributions by our industry to inform changes considered as part of the UK’s review of the Consumer Credit Act.

Invitation only legal and regulatory workshop – run by Shoosmiths for compliance specialists.
