ALD Automotive has announced the launch of ALD ProFleet for the Spanish market, a new connected car solution providing fleet managers and driver with real-time access to vehicle data.

Using on-board data devices fitted to each vehicle, ALD ProFleet collects and transmits encrypted information that will, according to the company, help fleet managers monitor overall fleet activity and minimise downtime, set geofencing boundaries, track CO2 emissions, implement driver safety objectives and monitor overall productivity. The information is provided to fleet managers via a customisable portal.

A new app running as part of ProFleet will allow fleet drivers to manage data permission controls, access mileage data split by business and private journeys and enter into gamification services designed to encourage smarter driving habits. Service reminders and fuel efficiency indicators will also form part of the app’s functionality.

The ProFleet system is set to be rolled out to markets in Europe and Latin America, with at least 12 countries live by the end of this year, according to ALD. Additional connected car services will also be added as the system is developed.

“Connected car solutions go beyond traditional administration services by connecting the fleet manager real-time with their fleet to make better informed decisions and take fleet management to a new level,” said John Saffrett (pictured above), ALD Automotive deputy chief executive. “Data is the game-changer and ALD ProFleet will enable fleet managers to explore new opportunities and fundamentally change the way mobility is managed going forward.”
